| current exhibition Heitmann Atelier & Gallery is pleased to present Purpose: Handmade Functional Objects. This group exhibition consists of several local and regional artists whose work teeters between art and craft. Purpose will be featuring work from Heather Mae Erickson, Grace Marks, Kathryn Flint, Julie Umbenhauer, Erin Hench, Luke Gilbert, Mio Studio, and Megan Warner. Heather Mae Erickson, an internationally recognized
ceramicist from Alfred, NY. The work selected for this exhibition is from her
"Industrial Hand" series, where streamlined vessels and platters make up an
incredibly unique line of dinnerware. Grace Marks is an artist from Mohrsville, PA whose work in Purpose
is both a selection of her ceramic dinnerware, as well as some woven
table accessories. Kathryn Flint is a ceramicist from Camp Hill,
PA whose ceramic work featured in Purpose is elegant wheel thrown
tableware. Julie Umbenhauer is an artist from Sinking Spring, PA whose work in
fibers is both eye-catching and utilitarian. Her line of knitting needle cases
and handbags feature brightly colored patterns, and quilt-work inspired
designs. Erin Hench is a fibers artist from Lyon Station, PA, whose work comes straight off the loom.
Purpose will feature a selection of her scarves, just in time for the
change of the seasons. Luke Gilbert is a wood worker from Lebanon, PA that
creates beautiful works in wood that explore a combination of intricate pattern
making and lathe techniques. Purpose will also feature Mio Studio,
the jewelry design team of Erica Millner & Mayra Orama Muniz from Lancaster,
PA. They will be showing a selection of their one-of-a-kind pieces that feature
a stunning blend of metal and wood. Megan Warner is another fine metals artist featured in this exhibition, whose
work selected for this exhibition features jewelry inspired by organic shapes
and objects found in nature.
